Lyons, pitching his best game of the season, walked none and stuck out two. Jimmie Foxx had St. Louis' only hit off Lyons in the second inning. Hack Wilson's bases loaded triple in the sixth inning chased St. Louis starter and loser Dolf Luque. Guy Bush, however, took the brunt of the beating by giving up 9 Mississippi runs.
