WEEK 3 UHLE PLAYER OF THE WEEK George Uhle of the Pawtucket Flying Dutchmen has been named DBS Player of the Week for April 17th through 23rd. Uhle pitched two dominant, complete game shutouts to help Pawtucket maintain their first place lead in the Northeast Division. Uhle pitched a seven-hit shutout April 20th against Hershey, and followed that performance with an even more dominating outing against Sahara on April 23rd. Against the Jihad with only 2 days rest, Uhle took the ball when 2 starters were injured and allowed only 3 infield hits. Other Player of the Week Finalists included Mississippi leadoff man Freddie Lindstrom, who batted .389, drove in 8 runs and played in 8 games; Pawtucket catcher Val Picinich, who took over the full-time catching duties and batted .408 with 7 extra base hits; and North Dallas outfielder Kiki Cuyler, who despite the Forty 11 game losing streak, batted .464, hit 2 home runs and scored 7 times. ST. LOUIS SPENDS OFF-DAY AT LECTURE Bubonic Plague victim Pete Alexander will not be traveling with the team for the next several weeks. During his convalesce, he has decided to work with an aspiring radio announcer from Illinois attending Eureka College. The young man will begin announcing Plague calamities (games) in the near future. The youngster joking told Alexander, "Perhaps I day I can play you in a picture show." Alexander, in good humor responded, "Ronnie, you have a better chance at being President than making it picture shows."
