TERRY TO NORTH DALLAS FOR FERRELL, PICK The North Dallas Evening Star reports the Montogomery Burns and the North Dallas 40 completed their much talked-about trade this morning, sending top hitting first baseman Bill Terry to North Dallas in exchange for pitching prospect Wes Ferrell and North Dallas' second round draft choice in the 1930 draft. Terry, 29, hit .313 last year with 77 RBI and 18 sb. Ferrell, 21, was 4-7 last year in 65 innings with a 4.02 ERA. It was also announced that North Dallas will name Terry as their new manager, replacing the oft ineffective tandem of Pelham Bellanger and the now deceased Urban Shocker. Said co-owner Sean Barrett, "We felt this was the right direction to go with the franchise. We were weak at 1st Base and needed a manager; we are confident that Bill Terry can fill both posts at the high level of competency that has defined his career. We are sorry to let Wes Ferrell go, but, when a player of Terry's caliber is available, we felt that you have to make a bid for him. We wish Wes nothing but the best." SUKEFORTH TO PLAY FOR MISSISSIPPI Misfits might be playing elsewhere The Mississippi Misfits made two decisions last week. The first of which was the signing of free agent catcher Clyde Sukeforth. Sukeforth, 27, will help out a badly needed catching corps for the defending champs. Last year's star catcher, Gabby Hartnett, is likely to miss most of the season with an injury. In other news from Ole Miss, rumors were confirmed today that the new ownership wants to move the franchise. A location is yet unknown, but more will be soon to follow. PAWTUCKET SIGNS SIX TO BOLSTER TEAM The Pawtucket Flying Dutchmen signed four pitchers and two catchers to their team. Earl Smith and Bennie Tate, both left-handed hitting catchers, were signed to one-year deals. Howard Ehmke, the right-handed veteran, also signed with the Dutchmen. Lastly, Pawtucket grabbed the contracts of three southpaws, pitchers Bill Bayne, Ralph Judd and Harry Smythe.
