1942 Voting results: Rookie of the Year Johnny Pesky of Fremont narrowly beat out Stan Spence of Harlem for the honors. Cy Young Award Mort Cooper of Montgomery wins the award, getting three first-place votes. Johnny Vander Meer, Curt Davis and Max Butcher also received first place votes, but only Vander Meer and Tiny Bonham had accumulated enough points to be anywhere near Cooper in the final tally. MVP Ted Williams overwhelmingly wins the MVP award for the second consecutive year, but failed to be unanimous. Dolph Camilli finishes a distant second, and Fremont rookie Johnny Pesky is the only other player to receive first-place votes.
