Biography
In an 18-inning game between Cleveland and Philadelphia on July 10, 1932, Indians' shortstop Johnny Burnett rapped out 9 hits in a losing cause, as the A's triumphed 18-17. The Athletics Jimmie Foxx was 6 for 9 with 3 home runs, 4 runs scored and 8 runs batted in – a magnificent performance – but Burnett's 9 hits set a single-game Major League record.
