Biography
"As a pitcher, I understand he was also considered a very good hitter. As a kid, my father-in-law remembered the commotion in Syracuse when my grandfather pitched his no-hitter in Syracuse Star Park as a member of the Syracuse Stars baseball team on Aug. 22, 1925 I remember him laughing so hard when he'd describe when he used to get a batter to strike out swinging; he'd say he loved to make it looked like they were sticking the bat up their ass! After he died, my grandmother got quite a few requests for his autograph...she used to send them checks he had written that the bank had returned in his statements, since that's all she had. She used to let me sort through them to find the ones with the neatest handwriting. How I wish I had kept one for myself!"
Michael Finnigan, Al Grabowski's grandson, remembers his grandfather.
