Biography

He made his debut with Cincinnati in 1937 and played sparingly until the war years took their toll on baseball. During the 1944 season, while playing for the Tigers, he saw regular playing time in the outfield. That season, he hit .273 with three home runs and 57 RBI. He collected five hits in 28 at-bats in the 1945 World Series. Outlaw drove in three runs and the Tigers defeated the Cubs in seven games. He played with the Tigers into the 1949 season when he was 36 years old.
