    GROMEK HOLDS OFF BURNS, 2-1

    Harlem's Steve Gromek struck out 7 Burns and scattered 10 hits as the Harlem Knights defeated Montgomery, 2-1, in game three of the World Series. Montgomery leads the best-of-7 series, 2 games to one.

    In the third pitching duel in as many games, Montgomery's Max Lanier stood toe-to-toe with Gromek, as both teams were scoreless through 4 innings. In the top of the fifth, Harlem took at 1-0 lead when Jim Bucher walked with the bases loaded. The Burns tied it an inning later on Mickey Owen's RBI single. in the top of the seventh, Harlem took the lead for good when Dixie Walker singled home Nick Etten. Lanier struck out 8 in the loss.
