    NEWSOM KEEPS KNIGHTS ALIVE, 4-3

Harlem's Bobo Newsom gave nine strong innings and worked his way out of multiple jams as the Knights clipped the North Dallas Forty, 4-3, to stave off elimination in the 1945 World Series.

Newsom gave up a run to North Dallas in the first inning on a Phil Cavarretta RBI double, but settled down and got through the third without much more concern. Harlem struck Forty starter Ken Burkhart for three runs in the third, sending the rookie hurler to the showers. The Knights added an insurance run in the fifth, and North Dallas cut the deficit to 4-3 with a run in the sixth, but never added another run.

Game five will be here in Harlem tomorrow, as North Dallas has a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
