    FIVE-RUN SECOND CHASES SCHUMACHER

PAWTUCKET - Pawtucket erupted for 5 runs in the second, and Dizzy Dean overcame a shaky start for the complete games victory, as Pawtucket won 7-4, giving them a commanding 3-0 lead in the DBS World Series.

Dean (1-0) got into trouble early, as North Dallas touched him for two runs in the first. It was a lead that the Forty could not hold.

In the bottom of the second, John Stone, who started the season with the Forty, lead off with a single. Rogell followed with another single, and Stone raced around to score when the ball rolled past centerfielder Wally Berger. Buddy Lewis followed with a triple into the left-center gap, tying the game at 2 apiece. Gilly Campbell, back from an ankle injury, doubled on the first pitch he saw, scoring Lewis. After Hal Schumacher (0-1) retired Dean, Herman singled and advanced to second on Medwicks hopper back to the mound. Beau Bell then cracked a double which scored Campbell and Herman, and this was all for Hal Schumacher. Monty Stratton got Trosky out, and In all, five runs had been scored by the Dutchmen.

In the top of the fourth, Stratton himself hit a two run shot, to pull the Forty within one, 5-4. However, Pawtucket added a run in the 4th and the 5th, and Dean took over from there.

Dean only allowed two batters over the minimum in the last four innings, and Pawtucket won, 7-4.

Game 4 will be tomorrow afternoon, when Pawtucket goes for a sweep over the highly-favored North Dallas 40. North Dallas won 102 games in the regular season, compared to Pawtucket's 84 victories. Game 1 hero Red Ruffing will get the start for Pawtucket.
