Tiny Bonham allowed only five hits as the Burns rolled to an easy 7-1 victory over Fremont in Game 2 of the 1942 World
Series. The victory gives the Burns a 2-0 advantage as the series shifts to Fremont for the next three games.
Joe DiMaggio broke the 0-0 tie in the third with a three run home run off of starter Paul Derringer (0-1) and the Burns
never looked back. They added another in sixth and three more in the 7th. The only blemish for Bonham (1-0) was a solo
home run by veteran Furtrading outfielder Met Ott, his second of the series. Tommy Holmes went 3-for-4 for the second
straight game, and Lennie Merullo also added three hits out of the 8 slot.
