7-RUN 4TH ENOUGH FOR BURNS, WIN 3RD TITLE, 8-7

Montgomery used a seven-run fourth inning to defeat Fremont, 8-7, to sweep the Furtraders for their third DBS title. They also won titles in 1929 and 1940.

Fremont had struck first, and built up a 2-0 lead before the Burns got to starter Tommy Hughes. Fremont battled back the rest of the game, but fell short in the ninth. Mort Cooper couldn't make it long enough to get the win, allowing Max Lanier to pick up the victory in relief. Tommy Holmes had another two hits, and rode his .647 World Series average to the MVP award.

Mel Ott was the lone bright sport for Fremont, getting three hits and three RBI, along with his third homer of the series.
