BRAZLE A ONE-MAN SHOW FOR BROOKLYN, 6-1

Brooklyn hurler Al Brazle weaved in and out of trouble this afternoon, as well as showing prowess at the plate, to lead the Belligerents to a 6-1 victory over North Dallas in the first game of the 1947 World Series.

Lou Boudreau homerd in the first inning to give Brooklyn an early 1-0 lead, and lead that vanished in the bottom of the second. Brooklyn reclaimed the lead on Dixie Howell's home run in the third, and added more insurance in the fourth on Brazle's two-run single. Brazle knocked in two more runs in the sixth when he doubled into the corner.

Brazle (1-0) walked four and gave up nine hits in 7 innings, but only one man scored as the Forty left 13 men on base. North Dallas had two men thrown out at the plate in the game, and also loaded the bases in the ninth with one out before Johnny Rigney struck out Tommy Henrich and got Eddie Miller to fly out to end the game.

North Dallas starter Fred Hutchinson (0-1) was ineffective, surrendering all six runs and 11 hits in under 6 innings of work.
