MIZE AND CREW BLISTER FORTY, 10-1

Brooklyn used a 7-run third innning, including a grand slam by Johnny Mize, to roll to an easy 10-1 victory in Game 3 of the World Series.

Bob Elliott hit a two-run homer in the first inning off of North Dallas starter Hal Newhouser (0-1), and then the Belligerents blew the game open in the third. The Big Cat's grand slam made it 6-0. Dale Mitchell's RBI triple made it 7, and he scored when Bobby Doerr deposited a ball into the seats for a 9-0 Brooklyn lead. Elmer Valo made it 10-0 in the fourth with a home run of his own. North Dallas pushed a run across in the seventh, but that was all they could muster.

Earl Johnson (1-0) pitched 8 strong innings, scattering 7 hits and walking no one.

North Dallas finds themselves down 3-0, heading into game 4 tomorrow in North Dallas.
