HUBBELL & CO. OUT-DUEL GROVE, 3-0

HARLEM, NY(AP): Lefty Grove threw 10 shutout innings, but it wasn't enough for Harlem as North Dallas scored 3 runs in the top of the 11th to win game 4 of the 1933 World Series, tying the series at two games apiece.

Carl Hubbell only allowed 4 hits in seven innings, only having trouble in the fourth inning when he got out of a jam with runners at the corners. Waite Hoyt, Billy Burke (2-0) and Jimmy Welsh also contributed by white-washing the Knights for the last four innings.

Grove was masterful for the Knights, scattering four hits and striking out 6 in ten innings of work, before being replaced by Clint Brown in the 11th. Brown (0-1) gave up a lead-off single to Phil Weintraub, who has pinch-hitting for Burke. After Odell Hale popped out, Brown got Appling on a third-strike that nipped the outside corner. Rick Ferrell then blooped a single into right and Weintraub scored when Chuck Klein's throw to third was wild. Mel Ott then hit his first home run of the series to ice the game for the 40, 3-0.
