NORTH DALLAS HOLDS OFF LATE CHARGE, WINS THIRD STRAIGHT TITLE

FREMONT - North Dallas won their third straight DBS title, defeating Fremont 6-4 in game 5 of the 1936 World Series.

Fremont jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first on Bill Terry's one-out home run. However, North Dallas quickly got to Fremont starter Johnny Marcum for three runs in the top of the second. Charlie Gehringer added three more with a three-run shot in the fifth as Forty starter Red Ruffing cruised for seven innings. However, Ruffing ran into trouble in the 8th when a double by Babe Phelps but men at second and third. Terry again came through with a single that scored both Phelps and Cuccinello. Chief Hogsett came in to stop any further damage. Waite Hoyt came in a nd gave up a run in the ninth, but Fremont could not come any closer and North Dallas took the game and the Series in five games.
